Coresteel Taranaki Awarded 2022 Franchise of the Year

Coresteel Taranaki takes home the top award this year for their excellence in managing a top franchise business, improving their sales, and demonstrating an extraordinary effort to support the wider Coresteel network.

Nathan and Karen Mumby have led the Taranaki Coresteel Franchise since 2019, driving impressive growth and success for the region. As a newer franchise owner in the group, winning this prestigious award is even more impressive for the team. This year, Coresteel Taranaki has taken every challenge in stride, transforming industry set-backs into business opportunities.

This award is selected by the Coresteel Head Office for the franchisee who stands out in every way. The criteria for winning this title requires exemplary business metrics – including the number of projects completed, sales data, percentage of market share, business growth, and marketing initiatives – as well as being a model franchise when it comes to collaboration and networking.

“This win came as a surprise to us, but we can’t thank all the people in the Coresteel network enough for all their support. It’s been a great few years for us here, and we’re lucky to have worked with some fantastic clients on their purpose-built projects around the region,” says Nathan.

With some huge projects under their belt – including a 7,000sqm distribution centre for COMAC – the Coresteel Taranaki has focused on delivering exceptional purpose-built projects for motivated clients. With more projects on the way, Nathan and his team have demonstrated an exceptional ability to grow and maintain relationships.

“These awards are really about shining light on the positive aspects of this network,” says Simon Archer, Coresteel Buildings Commercial Manager. “For this award, we look at everything that makes a franchisee a leader in this network. Building relationships, maintaining them, and driving better results.”

Beyond just hitting high sales rankings within the network, Coresteel Taranaki has demonstrated huge growth in market share across their region. This is one of the key indicators of a strong local presence, as well as ongoing excellence in performance and delivery.

“Our goal when joining Coresteel was for it to eventually be our dominant business. The Coresteel values really align with how I see and do business, and we’ve seen great momentum here in our region,” says Nathan.

This award reflects a tremendous effort from the entire Coresteel Taranaki group. Darren Andrews, as Operations Manager, Megan and Matthew, and the wider team have all contributed to the success of this year’s numbers.

This award has been given annually for over a decade to the Coresteel franchisees who demonstrate what is possible for Coresteel’s operations and growth. After winning the award for highest sales growth last year, Nathan and Karen have proven not only their talent for strengthening a business, but also a relentless commitment to going above and beyond expectations to achieve results.

“When I first met Nathan three years ago, he said he wanted to be standing up at the awards ceremony and be a big-hitter in the network. Not only has he done it – but he’s also taken home this top recognition,” reflects Simon Archer.

The next step for the team is their new office space, which will be built specifically to showcase both the Cold Form Bracketless system and DonoBeam in one building. A prime location, the team will begin works at the corner of Smart Road and the State Highway in the next month.

It’s an exciting time for the Taranaki team, but Nathan says it wouldn’t be possible without the support from the wider network. “Coresteel operates like a family. Right from the start, so many people across Coresteel have taken the time and effort to help us out. Geoff Spencer from Manawatu, the teams in Waikato, Hawkes Bay, Dunedin, and so many more – they have all been so willing to give up their time, and we can’t thank them enough.”
