Tough weekend of racing makes for great TV

It was a challenging weekend of V8 ute racing for Coresteel Buildings Manawatu/Whanganui operator Geoff ‘SOS’ Spencer in Taupo earlier this month.

The racing was part of the Premier Motorsport Championship in Taupo, 9-11 December at the Bruce McLaren Motorsport Park and will be televised on CRC Motorsport early in the New Year.

“The last two races were said to be the best racing ever seen by the utes. All nose to tail with action a plenty,” says Geoff Spencer.

During qualifying the Coresteel ute was plagued by shudder under brakes again but managed to finally track it down to the back brake rotors. The problem was solved, which allowed Geoff to make up the lost ground to 5th place.

“Driver error then put the car into a huge lock up and drift. I managed to hang on to it and I’m told it will make great TV.”

The Coresteel ute dropped back to finish 8th, followed by 7th in race six and 6th in race three.

Geoff was also excited to host the Coresteel Hot Lap Competition winner, Lockie Anderson, who came to Taupo especially for the ride.
